Philosophy Festival, a project of two incurable enthusiasts (Bogdan Banasiak, Eugeniusz Obarski), embodies the idea of organizing noninstitutionalized philosophical meetings and conferences, to which the Festival organizers have invited academic teachers from more than 20 Polish universities and academic centers. Cooperation was also declared by philosophy magazines: “Hybris” (Łódź), “Nowa Krytyka” (Szczecin), “[fo:pa]” (Szczecin), “Przegląd Filozoficzno-Literacki” (Warszawa), "Rita Baum" (Wrocław) and "Humanistyka i Przyrodoznawstwo" (Olsztyn).
The institutional patronage of the Philosophy Festival is provided by the foundation "Kocham moje miasto" ("I love my city"). From 2010 edition the Philosophy Festival will be held in collaboration with Warmińsko-Mazurski University in Olsztyn and the Bialystok School of Public Administration. Cooperation - Uniwersytet Jagielloński in Krakow.
The organizers intend to create tradition of regular annual (organized in mid-September) meetings of Polish and foreign scholars involved with philosophy, philosophy students and everybody who is interested in humanities but not involved professionally with the field of philosophy.
The aim of the Festival is to create a discussion forum for philosophy and corresponding sciences. Achieving the aim includes:
- organizing lectures, seminars, workshops, etc. (a new theme will be chosen for each consecutive edition of the Festival);
- publishing of conference papers, translations, commentaries and research projects carried out within the framework of the Festival.
Interested participants can take part in all festival events, except for the organizational meetings (by invitation only).
